Boys in books/films

We have all felt that tragic stab in the heart at watching a twilight movie or reading a romantic novel. I remember absolutely swooning over seeing the sight of baby Leo in Romeo + Juliet. I've recently realised however, that most boys will not suffice this longing for a prince or a hero.

Despite having many couples around me, and me or course being a single pringle (not too sure how to mingle due to social awkwardness), I still cannot understand why I don't wake up to a breakfast in bed, or walk out my door to follow a trail of rose buds, or to a horizon of glistening tea lights. Why can boys not be like in the novellas I so long to be true? Why can't I be Bella and where is my Edward? Or Noah and Penny? Or Daisy and Gatsby? And could someone please locate where my Ron Weasley is at!??

Most other teenage girls just want a boy to buy them a pandora ring and who wears Adidas and smells like David Beckham. But I want something more. I want a relationship like in tv shows. Where he's willing to die for me in a fight to protect my honour and well-being. Someone who would literally smash a restaurant window to have the opportunity of defending me (yes Mark Darcy, I'm looking at you). I want love letters and heart throbbing, foot in mouth, head feels like it might explode with the amount of love stored up in it, feelings. I want to be courted and romanticized. What ever happened to chivalry? In the words of Bonnie Tyler, 'where have all the good men gone?'
